, May 11, 2010, in Versailles, Kentucky at the Oak Knoll Meadows Farm, a colt thoroughbred was born weighing in at 118 lbs. What a beauty - WOW!!
The colt was named Adamor and will race for autism awareness.
The story of Adamor
Adamor is a throughbred colt born and bred to run for autism. His existence was inspired by a boy named Adam who is autistic. Adam's mother imagined the horse, years before he was born. Her vision for a dark bay colt with 4 white "tango" socks and a white heart on his forehead, was born out of her involvement in the 2006 production of "El Corazon del Tango"; a show featuring Argentine Tango dancers that addressed the future of autistic children. The show focused on the question, 'what will happen to all the autistic children once they grow up?' In 2008, she was involved in the second
Dance Into Unity
production, a tango show to raise autism awareness inspired by her son Adam.
The name of the second show was "Tango Adamor" and it's theme was "from separation to unity, for the one in all of us." Autism is separation from from everyone and tango is the ultimate merging of individuals into a dance of unity.
Adamor was born to continue focus on the question, what will be the future of the multitude of children born each day with autism? Named for Adam, Adamor meaning human, earth, dust and 'amor' for love and light, Adamor will run to bring attention to this issue. A race horse runs as an individual but he is the result of a supreme collaborative effort. Adam's mother contacted Oak Knoll Meadows Farm with the idea of breeding a racehorse to continue bringing awareness to autism.
Oak Knoll Meadows Farm was started with 2 goals in mind; first to breed race horses from discarded mares and second, to find new careers for unwanted race horses. Adamor was born from such a mare. Tickle Me Wild, a daughter of Stormin Fever and a grandaughter of the great Storm Cat, was broken down while in training as a 2 year old. As her owners no longer wanted her, they instructed her trainer to have her "put down"! But, other than being unable to race, or be ridden, she was a sweet, kind horse and her bloodline makes her an ideal broodmare.
Her trainer contacted Oak Knoll Meadows Farm and they agreed to take the filly. Now the dam of two colts, Brawler and Adamor, Tickle Me Wild has found her calling. Her son, Adamor, by Doneraile Court, a son of the great Seattle Slew, was born on the first anniversary of the tango production, "Dance into Unity," at 11:00 P.M. on May 11, 2009 California time. He came into the world with the 4 tall white tango socks and the heart on his forehead that Adam's mother originally imagined. Now, he is a yearling. He has spent his life running with the other colts, lazing in the sun and growing. And his white heart has transformed into a Nike "check" the ultimate sign of running.
Adamor was born to run to bring awareness to the terrible epidemic that is autism.
